A few days ago, Tilak Verma was abruptly retired from the field during the Mumbai Indians’ match against Lucknow Supergiants. The management cited his slow batting as the reason for the decision.
In match number 16, Lucknow Super Giants vs Mumbai Indians, Mumbai Indians lost by just 12 runs. They scored 201 runs but lost all ten overs.
But Mumbai Indians fans and spectators still cannot understand why Mumbai decided to remove a set batsman and bring in unset batsman Mitchell Santner. Hardik Pandya could not hit a big shot like that.

Mumbai Indians fans think that Tilak Verma felt bad for being taken off the field and then retiring out Besides, he played as an impact player for the team that day.
IPL 2025 is not going very well, with the team that has won the IPL title for the fifth time in a row currently sitting at the bottom of the points table.
But in yesterday’s match, he showed that he is an impact player and not a stable player. He played for Mumbai Indians and scored 56 runs in 29 balls. This time, the match was lost by 12 runs, but this time Hardik Pandya was with him, he scored 42 runs in 15 balls.
But after Jasprit Bumrah came to the Mumbai Indians squad, the Mumbai Indians can now be seen winning.
MI The coach stated, “I think Tilak batted well for us when we lost that wicket and that partnership with Surya, and he just wanted to get going, but he just couldn’t then.”
“I waited till the last few overs hoping that because he (Tilak) spent some time there so he should have been able to get that hit out of the way but I just felt that at the end that I needed someone fresh to go as he was struggling,” he said.
“I think halfway point, even at the 14th over mark, we were in it, 12 balls, 14 balls out, we were par score with them…we had the game in control most of the time even after losing those two early wickets but it was just disappointing that we just couldn’t finish it,” he continued.
